Lust

Everyday we have to wonder what draws us to things and people, and what controls our action. Picture lust as a strong sensual desire for another person. People will lie, cheat, and steal for it. It never leaves us in a quite clear sense of mind. Fraternity boys seem thoroughly infected by it, some even resort to chemical appeals. Anything to satisfy this terrible monster.
Serve lust some alcohol, and it does even more malicious things. Have you ever had a couple of drinks, and slept with someone, even though you really weren’t interested in them? If you’re a guy the answer is probably yes. Have you ever slept with someone, and pretended they were someone else? I’m sure the answer is yes as well. I know I’m guilty of lust. It’s a burning desire within us all.
The problem is lust is a poison. Not for any strictly moral reason but for something more simple. Anything that causes us to lose our humanity is a poison. Lust can lead to deception and exploitation, and I for one do not want to exploit anyone. When you trick someone, or deceive them for your own benefit how much better than the capitalist pigs are you?
I tell the fraternity boys who think getting a girl loaded and having their way with her is a good idea, to leave rape to the pigs. I think the evil capitalists and their military’s are hurting enough people.
Lust turns people in to commodities. Commodization is a capitalist perversion. It suggests that quantity trumps quality. We know that if you mass-produce shit it is still shit. So, lust should function on the same principle.
Worse still, it desensitizes us. Every time we keep score, or try to just pick up chicks we are shopping. Another capitalist function, we fill emptiness with quantity. Disgusting really. So, when we tell them that capitalism and commodification is evil, it goes in hand that anything that robs people of their humanity and commodifies them is evil as well.
If you reject their consumer labels, also take a look at your other habits. My friends, capitalism runs deep indeed. Free yourself, and grant the dignity to all people never to be exploited.
